Sydney Rebels Franchise Timeline

April 7, 1997: First game in franchise history.

November 5, 1997: Alan Benes wins the first Inferno League Rookie of the Year award.

November 6, 1998: John Valentin is named Inferno League MVP.

January 1, 2004: The Gobi Mongols decide they've had enough of playing in the middle of nowhere. They pack up and leave for Great Britain, becoming the Manchester United Force.

January 1, 2007: After numerous legal disputes with the football club Manchester United, and with fans never able to embrace a team with such a stupid nickname, the Mancheseter United Force head to Australia and become the Sydney Roos.

January 1, 2010: Although the team enjoys modest success at the gate in New South Wales (if not on the field), wealthy Italian industrialist Gianluca Greggio purchases the team on a whim. He relocates the Roos to Mauritius, his favorite vacation spot, and renames the team the Port Louis Dodos.

January 1, 2014: After the entire team is diagnosed with a severe lack of self esteem due to playing on a team called the Dodos, and after years of losing money hand over fist in tiny Port Louis, new owner Adam Darowski brings Weaverball back to Russia by relocating the team to Moscow and renaming them the Cosmonauts.

January 1, 2021: Moscow's stadium, the MIR Baseball Station, falls out of Earth orbit. Much of it burns up in the atmosphere and the rest crashes into the Indian Ocean. How a 75,000 seat stadium was removed from it's foundation in Moscow and put into orbit in the first place is anybody's guess. The franchise was considering a move before the incident anyways, so the team is relocated to Sydney and renamed the Rebels.
