Acapulco Tequilas Franchise Timeline

April 7, 1997: First game in franchise history.

January 1, 1998: One season of Los Angeles Hermanos baseball is more than enough. The team with possibly the worst nickname in the history of organized sports picks a new nickname that is nearly as bad. They are moved to Texas and renamed the Dallas Doom.

January 1, 2000: The Dallas Doom are doomed after just two seasons. They move west to Arizona and are renamed the Phoenix Devils.

January 1, 2005: The Devils have had enough of Phoenix, and Phoenix has had enough of the Devils. The franchise is on the move again, heading to South Africa and becoming the Johannesburg Poachers.

January 1, 2008: After three seasons of protests the team finally agrees to change it's name from the Poachers to the Steelmen.

November 3, 2010: Hugh Baumann is named Rookie of the Year in the Inferno League.

2014 Playoffs: The Steelmen reach the postseason for the first time in their history. They make it to the Weaver Series but are defeated by the Rio de Janerio Capybaras in six games.

November 6, 2014: Lefty Grove wins the Inferno League Cy Young Award.

November 7, 2014: Joe Morgan is named MVP of the Inferno League.

2015 Playoffs: Johannesburg makes it back-to-back Inferno League Championships, but again they come up short in the Weaver Series. The Long Beach Lobsters defeat the Steelmen 4 games to 1.

November 6, 2015: Joe Morgan wins his second consecutive Inferno League MVP award.

January 1, 2021: The team falls on hard times following their run of glory in the middle of the last decade, and fan interest slowly erodes. Ownership changes, and looking to fill the void of the recently departed Moscow Cosmonauts the franchise is moved to Russia and renamed the Moscow Red Army. Johannesburg fans are left only with their monuments to remember the team by.

January 1, 2022: One year and 106 losses into their stay in Moscow the team becomes the third franchise in Weaver League history to leave the Russian capital. Management trades bleak, depressing Moscow for fun-in-the-sun Acapulco, Mexico! The team renames itself the Acapulco Tequilas.
