TOKYO (AP) - The Tokyo Tsunamis announced today the signing of recently retired former first baseman Eric Karros as the new Tsunami manager.

Karros was intorduced to the media by CEO Michael Wilson at a subdued press conference in the team's Tokyo headquarters.

Karros sounded an enthusiastic tone stating, "This is the job I wanted and the place I want to be. I love Tokyo and the people here. This is the best baseball city in the world."

Also present at the press conference was former manager "Mashi" Murakami who said, "I'm not going anywhere. My title will change but I will still be here trying to improve this franchise."

When asked what that role would be Muralami deferd to team CO Wilson who said, "Mashi will be our pitching coach among other duties. He will also be the assistant manager."

Asked wether he thought it would be a problem to have two managers in the dugout Wilson said, "We are all here to build something, I need as many people around this franchise who will help us do that."

Karros capped off a stellar professional career, spent with several teams, by winning the Weaver Cup with Long Beach after a mid season trade.

"I am thankful to Mike for giving a chance to win a title, and for the opportunity to come back here and help do some great things for this city and franchise," Karros said.
