NEW YORK (AP) - This summer, fans of the New York Nukes will be treated to a new promotion which the team believes time has come... Beanie Baby Burning Day! "All those 'Beanie Baby Day' promotions have been so popular, we just decided we'd take it one step further and put a New York spin on it" said Nukes President and C.E.O. Jim Lockwood.

Fans attending the Nukes game versus the hated Gobi Mongols on Sunday, June 16th, will receive a specially licensed Beanie Baby nicknamed "Burn-ie". Following the game, fans will be let onto the field to begin throwing their Beanie Babies into a giant pile in center field. In addition to "Burn-ie", fans will be encouraged to bring their own Beanie Babies and add them to the pile as well. Once all Beanie Babies have been thrown into the heap, they will be instructed to return to their seats to remain a safe distance away from the toxic cloud that should develop as a result the toys being burned. There they will be treated to the display of 50,000+ Beanie Babies going up in flames and forming a giant mushroom cloud above the stadium! The toys burn VERY quickly and the entire spectacle is expected to last only about 15 seconds.

Ty Cobb will do the honor of setting off the bonfire. "Ty is really excited about it, he really LOVES fire!" explained Lockwood. "Besides, he's the only one in the city fast enough to get away from the toxic cloud."
