LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Riots capped off the most remarkable post-season in Weaver League history in dramatic fashion, staving off the never-say-die Belfast Bombers and winning a gut wrenching, ten inning Game Seven 3-2 to claim their first ever Weaver Cup of Ultimate Power!

The road to the Weaver Series brought the Riots face to face with the defending Weaver Cup Champion Amity White Sharks (who finally broke the dreaded Weaver Series jinx by becoming the first ever defending Weaver Cup Champion to return to the playoffs the following season) in the ILCS. Los Angeles rode the momentum of a ten game winning streak into the series and stunned Amtiy by taking the first three games of the series! The White Sharks finally woke up and took the next two games, but it was too little too late. The Riots were victorious at home in Game Six and found themselves headed for destiny in the Weaver Series against the Bombers.

The Riots again dominated early in the series, and after four games found themselves with a three games to one series lead. The L.A. players were already dreaming of a victory parade down Wilshire Boulevard, but the Bombers had other plans. Belfast had already come back from a three games to one deficit to beat the Havana Cigars on an eleventh inning Mickey Mantle home run in Game Seven of the BLCS, and had no intention of laying down for the Riots in this series! Pounding out nine runs in Games Six and Seven, the Bombers tied the series and again forced a decisive Game Seven! Belfast led the game into the eighth inning, but the Riots 22 year old first baseman Ron Wright evened things up with a game tying home run which would eventually force extra innings! The Bombers were unable to capitalize in the top of the tenth, but the Riots made the most of their opportunity in the bottom of the inning. After reaching base on an infield single, Jimmie Foxx was credited with stealing second after a botched hit and run in which the Bombers Todd Walker missed the tag! Reaching third on a sacrifice, Foxx scored the winning run as Travis Fryman hit a sacrifice fly to right field! The Weaver Cup was finally in the hands of the L.A. Riots! Property damage from the insuing two week "celebration" on the street of Los Angeles was $2.7 billion.
