KABUL (AP) - Yesterday Matt Etzler, the owner and General Manager for the Kabul Mujahadeen announced the firing of manager Silkah Budrah in the first of many shakeups within the Mujahadeen organization. Etzler then announced that assistant coach Nasir Bagh to the position of manager. The Kabul Mujahadeen once again finished less than best in the Lockwood division, a dissapointing third. Budrah, in four seasons with the Mujahadeen, had a 349-299 overall regular season record, and lead the team to the Lockwood divisional pennant in his first season as coach. Since that season, however, the team has finished 2nd, 4th, then finally 3rd in the division. Etzler stated that the reason for such a change comes in a larger effort by the organization to restructure and seriously improve the team. Since their pennant season, interest in the team has been steadily declining, and team stockholders have reportedly been giving ear to a group in Hong Kong who wish to move the team there. Etzler is against such a move, but if ticket prices continue to slide, the stockholders may eventually outvote him. Hong Kong has been without baseball ever since the Hong Kong Dragons left after the 1997 season to become the Amity White Sharks.

The second move by the organization was made early today as Matt Etzler announced a "blockbuster of a deal" where Kabul traded Picters Scott Erickson, Derek Jeter, Jose Parra, and RF Darrien Erstad to the London Substitutes for Pitchers Walter Johnson and Joe Gamble. Etzler expressed great enthusiasm for adding another 20 game winner to the Kabul starting rotation. The Mujahadeen front office has expressed concern over the aging of ace Bob Gibson. Gibson was twice the Inferno League Cy Young award winner, but finished with a 16-10 record this year, his first non 20-game winning season. Etzler concluded by saying that other transactions may be coming in the off season as Kabul works to build a championship team.
