LOS ANGELES (AP) - Another season of Los Angeles Riots baseball is almost upon us. After an injury plagued 2000, there are high hopes in L.A. for the new millinium. Even more so than last season, Riot's fans have something to look forward to. The return of star outfielder Raul Mondesi, hopes of Nolan Ryan returning to all-star from, a full season of Jimmie Foxx at first, and a young pitching staff turning into a cohesive unit could all spell trouble for the seemingly unbeatable New York Nukes.

Suiting up as the DP combo are youngsters Ralph Milliard, second base, and Gabe Alvarez moving into the starting lineup for aging former All-Star Rufi Islam. Manager Rodney King had this to say of the duo, "Well hopefully we ain't rushin 'em too much. But hell. we had to dump Biggio to get Foxx here. What the hell do you expect us to do? Now get outta my damn face, fool" Obviously upset over LA's inconsistency, he later screamed, "Talk to O.J. damnit!" O.J. Simpson, newly named team President and CEO would only state, "I didn't do it." The new GM, that only wishes to be known as 'the four white cops', had great words to say about the team. "We believe that the only thing stopping this team from a championship is youth. We have such a young staff, they just need to come through with some quality starts, because our offense will score the runs. We think our acquistion of Jimmie Foxx and the return of a healthy Raul Mondesi could put us over the top. In Foxx we get one the great hitters in the game along with a great glove at first. And we can't forget Ken Griffey, Jr. But there isn't much to say for him except that he is great."

There are high praises coming from within the Riot organization. These words, though, are similar to what we heard last season. Therefore the best thing to do is wait and see.
