AMITY (AP) - The baseball juggernaut also known as the Amity White Sharks capped the most dominant season by any team in modern Weaver League history by defeating the Blizzard League Champion Rio de Janerio Capybaras in a four game sweep to claim the the 2001 Weaver Series!

After two straight second place finishes to the Honolulu Volcanos in the Polanski Division, Amity seemed hell bent to leave the Volcanos in their dust from the get go. Led by a starting rotation that boasted four 20 game winners and an offense led by RBI men Frank Thomas, Mo Vaughn, and Henry Aaron (who changed his nickname from "Hammerin' Hank" to "Hammerhead Hank" when acquired by the Sharks late in the 2000 season), Amity made easy work of the Polanski Division. Despite Honolulu's 107 wins, second best in the Weaver League, the Volcanos were shut out of the postseason, finishing 20 GAMES BEHIND AMITY and continuing the dreaded Weaver Champions JINX!!!

The White Sharks almost hit a road bump when they faced Lockwood Division Champion New York in the ILCS. Randy Johnson shut out Amity in Games 1 and 4, but unfortunately for the Nukes, those would be the Big Unit's only starts, as Amity never let the series get to the seventh game (and one more showdown with Johnson), winning the other four games and taking the series in six. The prospect of their season coming down to one game seemed to be a wake up call to the White Sharks, which was bad news for their opponent in the Weaver Series, the Rio de Janerio Capybaras. The Sharks smelled blood, and the feeding frenzy began on the Capys. Four games later, Amity had captured it's first Weaver Cup of Ultimate Power in franchise history! "This is for all of the Amity fans, for our owner, Mr. Schmaltz, and for all of Long Island!" a joyous Sharks manager Martin Brody exclaimed, reeking of the clam chowder the players had dumped on him during the post game celebration.
