COZUMEL (AP) - The Isle of Cozumel, along with Cancun and all of Yucatan State, Mexico, have announced they are boycotting both nuclear power and civil unrest. On the eve of the 2007 Weaver League season the announcement was made to the cheering crowd.

"We will not support our biggest rivals by using their electricity or .... whatever," commented newly named Cozumel Mayans Manager Ricardo Montalban. Hired earlier in the week by owner Erik "CHiPs" Estrada, Montalban defiantly predicted war in the Lockwood Division this year.

"My predecessor broke the team record for wins the last two seasons straight, but didn't even make the playoffs. Because he didn't send a clear message by allowing the team and fans to use Nuke powered AC units and looting. There will be only polluting oil power this year, and if they don't like it we'll put them all together in a circle of law enforcement officials and use tear gas and rubber bullets! Uh, wait a minute...."

In 2006 the Mayans won 110 games, yet still finished 7 games behind the Weaver Champion Los Angeles Riots. Despite bringing in more and more talent, at the expense of the team's farm system, they have been unable to overtake the LA and NY clubs. The team hints that two deals are in the works to change that, yet bringing in such big names as Sosa, Lofton and Clemente hasn't helped in the past. And as always, 120 wins means nothing if the Riots or Nukes notch 121.

The Lockwood Division still looks to be the most competitive in the League again, with a three-way battle until the final week of the season. Expect full-scale war from the Mayans this season, just not Nuclear war!
