CAPE TOWN (AP) - The Cape Town Convicts are looking at another season with less than 50 wins for the third year in a row. General Manager Bobby Cundiff is taking it hard, and there is even some talk about replacing him if the team doesn't get at least 50 wins.

In a meeting today owner John Coffee basically said that if the team didn't show some kind of improvement there would be a major shakeup. Many are speculating that the first move would be showing Cundiff the door as early as next season.

With the free agency issue coming up there could be help for him next season. Cundiff had a few words to say as well. "When I came to this franchise it was already a sorry team, and I know I haven't made some of the best moves. Trading away Willie Mays is an example. But you have to look at it this way, with most of the deals that were made we got help for the future. Even if it's hard for the fans to see it that way now these moves have had to be done.

"I've tried to bring in some new guys to help the team like center fielder Damon Buford and starting pitcher Chan Ho Park to name a few. These players should have helped the team get off to a slightly better start than last year, and frankly I would have to say that manager Silkah Budrah bears most of the blame for our slow start."

Cunidff basically said there could be a coaching change soon if the team doesn't turn it around fast. For the fans in Cape Town should be ready for another long season. GO CAPE TOWN... and, well, just win when ever you can.
