DETROIT (AP) - It appears that GM Cory Muzyka's first act at the helm of the Motown Miracles is going to be to appoint his own man as manager of the club. Former Rio de Janerio Capybaras second baseman Ryne Sandberg, who retired in 1999, was seen leaving the offices at Mojo Stadium.

"I was just here meeting with my good friend Cory", said Sandberg. "We've known each other for ages and I have managed for him before. Obviously the subject of the Miracles came up, and I told him that I was interested if the opportunity should arise. My pitching coach, Al Leiter, and I are very excited about the prospects of managing in Weaverball."

GM Muzyka confirmed the meeting, but denied any allegations that he was ready to fire Triple H.

"Ryno and I go way back, am I not allowed to sit down with a friend for a cold one in my new office?", said Muzyka. "Triple H is the manager of this team."

Sandberg and Leiter for the Miracles? Current Miracles manager Triple H was not amused when told of the meeting.

"What the hell does this guy think he's doing," said an annoyed Triple H. "I've been the man in this town for years! If he thinks I'm going quietly he's dumber than he looks."

It's going to be a long season in Motown, but at least it won't be boring.
