NEW ORLEANS (AP) - "Patience," whispered a smiling Michael Wilson, CEO of the Tokyo Tsunamis, "Patience, and hard work will build this franchise."

Wilson, speaking to a throng of mostly Japanese and American media at his team's winter headquarters at the Ritz Carlton New Orleans, explained "We are here because this is where I wanted to come to rest and reflect after our brutal season."

Wilson adressed the crowd with mixed drink in his right hand, unsteasily supporting himself on the hotel podium, saying "Many have questioned my purchasing of a two week New Orleans vacation for my entire franchise... to you I say they worked hard, they deserve it, and that is all I have to say about that."

"Look, before you start with the how is the team stuff; How does it feel to be the worst team; Will you fire the manager; Will you move or sell the team; Who are you going to trade stuff, let me make a brief statement or a rambling long one whichever the case may be."

"The Tokyo Tsunamis are not moving, nor will I sell the team. I also would like to add that I feel we are far from the worst franchise in the league, and that that fact will become evident on the field over the next 3 to 4 seasons."

"I will say we are still rebuilding, and although this year was tough for many Tsunami fans, there is hope, although we may in fact be worse next season. It is possible we will not win 40 games again next season."

"Our rebuilding process has gutted our franchise, this I admit, but what we did this season through cuts and trades woud have been done anyway through retirement and free agency, we just accelerated the process, so that we could hasten the rebuilding."

"I am also aware that my competency as a CEO/GM has been brought in to question by those in the media and around the league, to them all I say kiss my ass. This is my team, and though I am thankful to the league for it's oversite of the trading process, I will run it or not as I see fit in accordance with league rules."

Speaking to various rumors swirling about, Wilson stated, "I am not on drugs, other than those perscribed by my personal physician. I do not have a paid psychic and or astrologer on the teams payroll. I do visist a psychic but that is purely for my entertainment, and I usually do not act on her advice."

"As for the team, we have gotten a lot younger, especially with our pitching, in particular with the addition of Troy Peters, Donald Foutz and Jack Dunlap among others. Our offense is comming around with youngsters like LF Frank Leyritz, SS Rudy May and and 1B Tim Wiliams all hopefully in the starting lineup for openning day next year."

"With the #1 overall pick in the draft and a truck load of money to spend in FA we wil be OK... so if there are no further questions, thier is a bar stool in Pat O'Briens bar on Bourbon Street with my name on it. All further interviews will be conducted there."
