PORT LOUIS (AP) - Port Louis Dodos Interim General Manager Adam Darowski noticed one glaring issue when he first stepped into the Dodos clubhouse - a lack of leadership. Cito Gaston, the manager of the team, was working alone without a coaching staff.

“Judging by the performance of this club over the past... I don't know... ever, this is not a group that can be called upon to police themselves,” Darowski told the local press in his first interview since taking over the club. “We have brought in the proper reinforcements for Cito.”

This season, Darowski is taking over the day-to-day duties for the Dodos during the absence of owner/General Manager Gianluca Greggio. Greggio has trusted Darowski not to dismantle any system he has tried to build. In fact, Darowski is still tops on the Weaverball waiting list to receive his own franchise. “So one of you frickin’ quit already!” Darowski exclaimed.

Darowski talked with Gaston and decided to bring in some of Cito’s old pals from the days of the Toronto Blue Jays. In Darowski’s first move, he hired Jack Morris as pitching coach. “Jack is one of the biggest money performers in the history of sports. That cannot be overlooked,” Darowski stated.

Tom Henke was named bullpen coach. The great Joe Carter was called upon to be the hitting coach. “He was an RBI machine and we view him as a tremendous managerial prospect,” Darowski explained. Pat Borders will act as Gaston’s bench coach. Kelly Gruber will coach first and Tony Fernandez will waive them home from third.

Darowski is a well known 1993 Phillies phanatic. So, did it hurt to hire all of these players that destroyed the dreams of his all-time favorite team? “I know Gianluca is a Blue Jays fan. I wanted to help his club. Gianluca is a great guy and I am willing to look past his faults for the better of the club."
