AMITY (AP) - In a press conferance following a troubling loss to the Los Angelos Riots, Amity White Sharks owner Max R vented his frustration and incurred what may be the first real sign of doom in fourteen years of White Sharks baseball.

"This team is getting to the point where it would be more beneficial to rebuild than to try to scrape our way to another Polanski pennant. This season, our objective will be to trade our top veterans and look toward the future."

Garnering gasps and a few outcries from the local press in attendance, but no real suprise, the announcement met little opposition from the Amity nation. That means that some of the best pitchers in Weaverball, Andy Pettite and Clarence Conway among them, will probably see their last outtings for Amity this season. Also rumored to be available for trade are CF Johnny Damon, OF Richard Hidalgo and 2B Charles Paterson.

"We have enjoyed many good years here in Amity, but a change is in order. Last season, we went out and got enough offense to win the Weaver Series, but as usual we fell short. Even Stan Musial couldn't beat our ghost, and that leads me to believe it is time to start over."

Despite the White Sharks' history of sucess in the regular season, the team has managed to win just one Weaver Series, and this has undermined a potentially rampant fanbase in this sleepy coastal town. Despite their 116 win season in 2012, the attendance at Sea World Park dropped to its worst level since 2002. Last October the stadium didn't even sell out for their nearly annual Inferno League Championship Series against the Cozumel Mayans. When asked if a team relocation, rumored to be somthing new GM Max R had secretly wanted all along, was in the makings, Max skirted the question, but did not deny interest in exploring the possiblity.

"There are a number of cities clamoring for a Weaverball team," he said "but we have not made any moves toward relocation yet.
