VANCOUVER (AP) - The Vancouver Mounties today announced their plans to play this season in a retractable roofed stadium currently being contructed on the waterfront. The stadium, to be named "Portside Park", occupies a plot of land in between the Port of Vancouver and Canada Place on the Vancouver Waterfront.

"We made this change for a number of reasons - but first and foremost, the fans were beginning to get tired of rain delays in our admittedly wet Vancouver climate", said GM Cory Muzyka. "With the amount of times that our starting pitchers had to leave games early thanks to another rain delay, we felt that it was necessary to help them get later into more games and not have to use the bullpen quite so much."

"The park design we have selected also allows for the fans to have the best of both worlds - on those glorious sunny Vancouver days, the roof will be opened and the skyline and mountains will be visible. The stadium will seat 50,516 and will be finished in time for the upcoming season at a cost of around 500 million dollars."
