TOKYO (AP) - Its been a long year in Tsunami town... But today a ray of sunshine was cast into the Tokyo Tsunamis' dismal season.

Tokyo pulled off what may be considered one of the biggest draft day coups in Weaver Ammy draft history. Tokyo selected 5 tool right fielder Alan Donnersberger with the number one overall selection in the ammy draft. CEO/GM Michael Wilson stated, "He was our guy, we had him as high as 2 or 3 on our draft board, but with his skills and our lack offense we had to take him, he was just too good to watch go somewhere else."

After the first pick Tokyo anxiously waited as other picks were made only to find that the number one player on thier entire draft board came back down them at the number five pick. "Ya know, we fought internally as an organization... alot of of people wanted to take Patrick Nealy #1 overall, but "Cap" (Eric Karros) keep hammering away that 'We need some bats, we need some bats.' I must have agreed because we took a bat at #1."

"At the time we had fingers and toes crossed that Art Gaetti would drop to us at #5, but when he went #2 our hearts sank, that was of course until Nealy was passed over at 3 and 4," Wilson said.

"Well it just goes to show you the little things make a big difference," Wilson said. "We moved up in draft order, and gave up some pitching depth to protect ourselves as much as possible, little did we know it would help us get the two best players in the draft!"

"All can say is this is a great day for our franchise, and I hope round 2 is just as productive," said Karros, "Mike is really working hard to give us the tools to compete for a title down the road, we are really looking foreward to the future here in Tokyo."

"Spring training is going to be fun next year... I wouldn't want to be a guy trying to make our rotation for next season," said Wilson.
