KINGSTON (AP) - It was a sight for all to see. It was 8:00 AM on Monday, January 7th 2013, the first press conference of the 2013 season for the Jamaica Rastafarians. Owner Eric Cochran managed to find himself on time for the meeting for the first time ever. He wore slacks and a polo shirt, and appeared to be toxin free. Cochran started things off by going down his to do list for the season...

"First things first, I think we need a little more leadership down on the playing field. We can't just send our young guys out there with out any leadership anymore. I don't even remember what happened to our last manager, he disappeared out of nowhere."

And so the rumor mill has started up. It was reported in the Kingston Post that the #1 man on the list for the Rastas management job was former all-timer Babe Ruth, currently coaching the Tacoma Rainers, the AAA affiliate of the Vancouver Mounties. Other names in the air are Hall of Famers Tony Gwynn and Roger Clemens. An amatuer photographer even caught a picture of bad boy Albert Belle exiting the stadium with a giant duffle bag and an enormous grin on his face.

We recently sent Weaver Times correspondent Adolf Oliver Bush in for a personal interview with the Babe to see if we could clear things up.

AOB: Hello Mr. Ruth. Let me just say it is an honor to meet you. I've been a big fan throughout your playing days in the Weaver League. I've always held you in such high esteem and when I found out you were going to coach a minor league ball club, well I was shocked!

BR: That's a funny thing Adolf, because if you would have ever asked me earlier in my career if I would coach at all, let alone for a minor league club, I would have spit in your face told you to F#*& off.

AOB: What made you do it? Why coach for a minor league organization? It's obviously not the money because you're getting paid practically nothing by the Mounties organization.

BR: I'll tell you something that could get me in trouble with the organization, but at this point I don't give a damn. I had three years left on my contract with Vancouver when I decided to retire, so I was stuck with a coaching job, no if's and's or but's about it. I would much rather be home where I belong.

AOB: By at home, you mean in Jamaica as head coach for the Rastafarians, don't you?

BR: Well Adolf, you're a quick one. After all I still have my dreadlocks and manage to meet with Rastas CEO Eric Cochran at least 3 times a month. Things were always good down there and I never held a grudge against him for trading me.

AOB: In closing, is there anything you would like to say to anyone out there in Weaverball land?

BR: Yeah, to two people. Cory Mzyuka, get of your butt and find a replacement for me before you can consider me AWOL, or MIA!!! And Eric Cochran, keep those blunts rolled, I'll be there before you know it!
