BORA BORA (AP) - The natives are getting restless in Tahiti. Big promises were made when taxpayers had to fork over for a brand new stadium. The Surfirders are barely treading water at .500 this season.

"Clubhouse leader 1B Brian Cadaret is only 29 and entering the prime of his career. We got a couple of all world outfielders in [Tris] Speaker and Bobby [Tettleton] who are in their mid-20's. We got an all-star SS/3B in Joey Monk who's only 27. We also got up and comer's Gary Baker and Mark Mercedes... again in their mid-20's."

"Oh yah, then there is my pitching prospects!"

Then Sean's eyes lit up...

"We got The [Roy] Bullet who has been pitching his heart out this season. He's battled to a 11-win season... his first! Battling for slots on the roster next season include highly touted Johnny Hubbell and Todd Crosby. Another minor leaguer who may make the move up next season is lefty Larry Brower. He has a major league arm with some wicked breaking stuff."

We need to work on our batting this off season... everyone but Nobs [Ryu Nobeoka] seems to be slumping. I think Nobs is making it his personal mission to show the league what's to come. After being denied an all star roster spot, Nobeoka is making a serious run at the triple crown.

"My boys haven't given up," Nobeoka said. "They just haven't found their groove. I doubt we'll make the playoffs this year... but hopefully we can build some momentum for 2014. I'm sure we can find our groove by then."
