VANCOUVER (AP) - The Vancouver Mounties today announced their third major deal of the season, today sending young star Jamie Swanson to Cairo. In exchange for Swanson and their third round pick (#54 overall), the Mounties have acquired a pair of veterans - outfielder Ron Patrick Jr. and former Mounties ace Rocky Coppinger.

Coppinger left the team mere months before it moved from Motown to Vancouver in a package which saw prospects Dick Simpson and Orlando Tracy, along with the 8th overall pick in the 2009 draft (which became Swanson himself) arrive from Cairo.

"What a day this has been", said GM Cory Muzyka.

"We're really excited to not only bring a slugger of the magnitude of Ron Patrick to Vancouver, but also to bring back a class guy like Rocky Coppinger. He's going to get his chance to start again here in Vancouver - after going 62-46 with an ERA under 3.00 in Cairo. We think he has the stuff to produce really good numbers for us."

"Ron Patrick is a feared slugger all over the Weaver League, and for him to be here today putting on a Mounties jersey is like a dream come true. He gives us another scary bat in the middle of the order, and it's yet another guy that is very tough to pitch around."

The deal also includes a clause that should both Patrick and Coppinger retire after the season, that Swanson would be returned to Vancouver in exchange for a package of two draft picks.

"We felt it necessary to get that clause in there - but we have had discussions with both Rocky and Ron and both have indicated that they are not planning to retire in the near future."

Does this signal the end of the dealing for the Mounties?

"We've always got our eyes open for deals that we think will improve our ballclub", said GM Cory Muzyka. "Ryne has a good core of guys that he can work with now, and we think we are going to be very difficult opposition for any team in the league."
